Ball

Gate

General

Automated Valves. Valves which are controlled by actuators attached to the valve stem. The actuators can be electric motors, solenoids, pneumatic, or hydraulic. Actuators can be used for automatic control, remote control, or because manual control is difficult.

Globe

Automated Globe Valve: The same as a manual globe valve (see above), except that they normally use sliding stems, which are smooth rather than threaded, and are opened and closed by an electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic actuator assembly.

Solenoid

Solenoid Valve: An electro-mechanical device used to control the flow of liquid or gas by actuating an electro magnet or solenoid. These valves usually have either two or three ports. Two-port valves switch flow ON or OFF. Three-port valves direct flow between two output ports.
